Roger Stone’s Opening Statement to the House Intelligence Committee Meeting
Yesterday (9/25/17) Stone released a copy of his opening statement to the House Intelligence Committee. If you have not yet read the statement I strongly urge you to read it for yourself, and draw your own conclusions.
The House Intelligence Committee is investigating Russian ties to the 2016 presidential election, and Stone had to testify today behind closed doors. Stone wanted a publc hearing to set the record straight but was denied. Stone starts by saying “I am most interested in correcting a number of falsehoods, misstatements, and misimpressions regarding allegations of collusion between Donald Trump, Trump associates, The Trump Campaign and the Russian state.” Stone claims the Committee has made numerous false claims about President Trump and ties to Russia, and denies any connection between him and Russia. Stone says “On January 20, 2017, the New York Times reported that the intelligence services were in possession of emails, records of financial transaction and transcripts of telephone intercepts, which proved that Roger Stone, Paul Manafort, and Carter Page colluded with the Russians for the benefit of Donald Trump. So, where are these records? Can this Committee or our intelligence agencies produce them? I don’t think so.” Stone says the DNC will not let the FBI examine their computer servers to find who hacked and released the wiki leaks files and says the claim that Russia hacked their server holds is false “this entire claim is based on a self-serving report by CloudStrike, a forensic IT company retained by, directed, and paid for by the DNC.” If Stone is right about this claim that would mean that the DNC is behind this fake Russia collusion claim. Stone also claims that the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity found that the DNC servers were not hacked, and that the emails must have been leaked from the inside. Stone also claims Hillary Clinton has made numerous false claims about him in her new book ironically titled What Happened. Stone closes his public statement by saying “I strongly urge this Committee to investige the numerous, publicly documented contacts between Ukraine and the Clinton campaign, particularly in light of recent public reports the Ukraine is now providing sophisticated missile technology to North Korea. Please do not continue to perpetuate falsehoods here today.”
If Stone’s claims are true the level of corruption in American Government is far greater than I had previously believed. It would also mean the claim that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to get Trump elected is completely false, which at this point a majority of Americans have already realized. I am excited to see what comes out in the near future and to see the results of this secret hearing. I believe Stone has nothing to hide because he claims he wanted a public hearing.
